GRAND KNIGHT'S MESSAGE COUNCIL OFFICERS 2010-2011
I’d like to take this time to thank our Council for the opportunity to represent you as Grand Knight for the 2010-2011 fraternal year. For those of you who had the privilege to lead a Council for the Knights of Columbus, you know it is one of the most rewarding things you can do in your life. I feel honored and privileged to hold this office and am looking forward to working with our Deputy GK Tommy Lyons in continuing the success of this Council. Our Worthy Past Grand Knight Mark Janda, once again did an exemplary job leading the Council. Brother Mark stepped up a second time to serve as Grand Knight, at a time when our Council needed his leadership the most. Through his selfless service Brother Mark became the visualization of our order’s principles; Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Under his leadership and with the full support of 4034, Brother Mark made this past year one of the Council’s best.
This fraternal year our focus will be on the first principle of our order; Charity. The global recession, our nation’s economic downturn, changing demographics and their ultimate impact on us and our parish family, is creating a call for help that is forcing us to not only re-define charity, but change how we help our parish family and community. Our Council is here to support the Father and the parish families in need. Times have changed and with it the” how” part of charity changed as well. We must tackle these challenges to remain relevant and effective.
I have some initiatives that will begin immediately and ask for your involvement in helping to define the “how” part of our mission. The Council will continue to promote the Order as the “Strong Right Arm” of the Church by our works as well as our words.
This is going to be an exciting year and I look forward to all of the Council's efforts. The installation of this year's officers will be on July 17th after the 7 PM Mass at St. Mary’s Church, with a reception in the activity center afterwards. Please feel free to email or call me anytime. My time as Grand Knight is devoted to you and our Council. Thank you and may God Bless all of your families, our Parish and the Knights of Columbus.
Vivat Jesus,
David Corey
